In Spring of 2001, we launched an
environmental initiative to plant trees in memories of loved ones who have
passed away in what has been coined our Pinewood Memorial Forest. In partnership with Scouts Canada, Lanark
County Stewardship Council and Drummond
North Elmsley
Township, trees are
planted annually in a conservation area and records are kept at the funeral
home for who they were planted for. The
location of the forest is Code Rd
(located at Rick’s Marine -- Hwy #7 West of Perth) and slightly north of
Concession 5B. Although it is impossible to mark each tree individually, each
year we designate a specific area where the trees are planted and provides the
family an opportunity to visit the general area where their tree is located. We recognize that we utilize many valuable
resources, and as a result we have a responsibility to maintain a certain
degree of environmental sustainability.
Although we never want to take away the significance of a cemetery, this
provides another alternative for families to visit privately and reflect on a
life that was lived. If you have any questions, would like a tree planted in memory of your loved one, or would
like further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at any
time. |
