Maidment, Edith J. (Nee Frizell)

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hilltop Manor on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the remarkable age of 97. Edith is predeceased by her husband George Maidment and her parents Aben and Bertha Frizell (nee Stone). Loving and devoted mother of Ernest (Margo) Maidment, Robert (Belle) Maidment and Anne (late Harvey) Salmon. She was a treasured grandmother of Shawn, Sherri, Matt (Kerri), Ben (Ilde), Lezlie (Todd), Marcus, Heather (Dave) and great-grandmother of Drew, Evan, Lauren, Raine, Rhemy, Mason, Zack, Jayda and Madeline. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Edith is also predeceased by her brother Bill (Jessie) Frizell, her twin brother Fred (Dorothy) Frizell, her sisters Mary (Ernie) Moore, Katie (Joe) Stoddard and Ida (Bill) Eastman. Edith was long-time councellor at the Rideau Regional Centre, where she devoted time and attention to the many residents. She had made many friends over the years both professionally and socially. Edith loved music and dancing and will be remembered for her love of family, and zest for life. All who knew her would smile when remembering her wit and humour. Friends are welcome to gather at Blair & Son Funeral Home, Smiths Falls on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 11 a.m. until the time of the service in the Chapel at 12 noon. Interment will take place at Merrickville Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Merrickville United Church or the Hilltop Manor Resident and Activity Fund.
