With profound sadness, Steven’s family announce his passing at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto on Friday, August 18, 2017 after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, at the age of 44. Beloved husband of Lan (nee Do) Leung. Adored father of Emily and Dylan Leung. Cherished son of Bik Go and Yuk Ha Leung. Loved brother of John, his wife Belinda and their children Jeremy, Julia and Ian. Nephew of Susan and the late Kwan Bik Leung and cousin of Mary Jane and Ricky Leung. Son-in-law of the late Bui Do and Loan Tran and brother-in-law of Chau, My Le, Chi, Lan Anh, San, Phuong, Dao, Chien and Binh Do. Fondly remembered by many family, friends, colleagues and students. Steven grew up in Smiths Falls, Ontario after emigrating to Canada from Canton, China. After graduating from Wilfred Laurier University with a degree in Visual Arts, he pursued a teaching degree at Queen's University. Always up for an adventure and an avid traveler, upon graduating from Queens, he accepted a teaching position for two years in London, UK. Returning to Ontario, Steven worked for the Peel District School Board and taught in Mississauga and Brampton. Prior to falling ill, Steven was a dedicated elementary school teacher at Sir John A. Macdonald Sr. Public School, in Brampton. He enjoyed mentoring his students, especially in the subjects of Visual Arts and Computers. He loved art, being surrounded by nature, painting portraits of his travels and photographing his experiences. Steven will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, caring son, proud brother, respected teacher and cherished friend.
Family and friends may pay their respects at the Turner & Porter Neweduk – Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saviour of the World Chinese Catholic Church, 30 Bristol Rd. W., Mississauga on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Marymount Catholic Cemetery, Guelph. In memory of Steven, donations made to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (Ontario Region) would be appreciated.
