Surrounded by his loving family, John Barrie passed away in Perth Hospital on Friday, January 13th, 2017 at the age of 77 years.
Predeceased by his parents Rankin and Kay (Geddes) Barrie, and in 2014, his wife of 52 years, Margaret Truelove. Cherished father of Janet Barrie (Rob Garland), proud grandpa of Riley and Jordan Steenson. He will be sadly missed by his sister Jean (Barrie) Kelly and brother Jim (Judy) Barrie, several nieces and nephews.
John was a teacher at Courtice High School for many proud years: he loved and told countless fond stories of Perth, Snow Road, Lanark County and Otty Lake. He cherished his life-long friend George Hanna. John had a very big heart and will be missed by many.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 15 Gore Street West, Perth, on Wednesday January 18th, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Funeral service will be in the Blair & Son Chapel on Thursday, at 11:00 A.M. In remembrance of John, donations made to the Great War Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Cancer Society (Lanark County) Wheels of Hope program would be appreciated.
Special thanks to the EMS, Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital emergency and ICU staffs, they all gave the Barrie family 110%.
