Condolence: Dr. Gillespie was one of the general practitioners that did occasional shifts in the Emergency Department of the QueenswayCarleton Hospital in the late 70's and early 80's. All the ER nurses had great respect for him as a physician, especially when he functioned as an ER colleague. He knew his stuff and we felt secure when he was on our shift......we knew our patients were safe! Winning ER nurses' approval was not an easy thing for a G.P. in those days! Dr. Gillespie did it effortlessly. The world has lost a great doctor! My sincere condolences to Dr. Gillespie's family. What a sad time for all.

Our deepest condolences to your family. I grew up beside you, babysat the boys and even worked in Mr. Gillespie's office one weekend. He was always there if we needed medical advice or just to talk. Condolence: To Linda, James, Chris and the Gillespie family:
It is with deep sadness that we hear of Brian’s passing. He was a dear friend who was devoted to his family and an example of dignity, integrity and love for all who knew him.
Brian had a deep respect for everyone he met. Once you met him he was forever your friend.
He also had a great love for nature and an appreciation and urge to understand new places and things. On his first visit to Newfoundland we saw that great curiosity for the natural world and a desire to learn about a different lifestyle and sometimes unique way of life. Brian’s taste for all kinds of fish made us visit every restaurant which serves such fare.
On our first visit to Ottawa he took us into his home and his heart. I think he took us to every town and every tourist event within a hundred mile radius of Ottawa, and refused any compensation.
Brian was a very knowledgeable guide and enjoyed every moment himself. His explanations were generally detailed and long but very interesting. Brian also took us to every museum in Ottawa. He read every word of every display so each visit always took a full day.
Brian practically adopted our two daughters into his family, became their helper, adviser (when they asked his advice) and their mentor with his saintly quiet demeanor. He was dearly loved and respected by them.
But as life goes, there comes a time when we must say goodbye – too soon for most of us.
We are left to live with our memories of a gentle man and a great friend.
Although Brian has left us far too early in his life he served his purpose on earth well. That’s the way we’ll always think of him.
We are taught to believe that we will see each other again in another life, so maybe Brian, we’ll see each other again at Rockin’ Johnny’s for the Big Man Breakfast that we loved so well.
Goodbye dear friend - you’ve left your great legacy of kindness and loyalty as an example to others.
